Winter Family Activity Guide

Winter is here! It’s time to bundle up and enjoy everything this season has to offer. We have put together a guide with a wide range of winter family activities that anyone from the outdoor lovers to the indoorsy types will enjoy.

Santa Claus Parade

Kick off the festivities with a touch of whimsy! What better way to get in the holiday spirit than by attending the Santa Claus parade? This annual parade is popular for its elaborate display of holiday cheer, which includes floats, elves, and even Santa himself. If you don’t live in Toronto, there are parades in almost every city including Winnipeg, Ottawa and Banff.

Board Game Café

Don’t want to venture outdoors? You can still have fun indoors! Make it a family fun day by enjoying hot chocolate and board games at a board game cafe. Popular cafes include For The Win and Snakes and Lattes. Be sure to check out what’s available in your city.

Family Fun on the Ice

Skating is one of the most popular winter activities and for good reason! It’s a great way to get outside with your family and have some fun.  If you’re in Toronto, there are plenty of exciting places to skate  like Nathan Phillips Square and the Bentway. If you’re in Ottawa (or want to plan a trip to experience an epic destination for fun winter activities) be sure to visit the world’s most famous – and breathtaking – skating site at Rideau Canal! Whether you choose an outdoor destination or your local indoor rink, we guarantee it’s an activity the whole family will love!

Light Festivals

The festive light displays are arguably the best part of the holiday season. Glow Gardens will be lighting up different cities across Canada starting this month in Vancouver. It will be one of the world’s largest indoor Christmas festivals featuring live music, delicious food, art and lots of lights!

No matter what you are celebrating this holiday season, or who you are celebrating with, there are plenty of winter activities to enjoy. Get outside and have some winter fun!
